A Definition for ADHD Holistic Health
A lot of times people are scared away from ADHD Holistic medicines. Thinking that they are "witch craft" or "voodoo". This is an unfortunate stereotype that isn't really true. Many of the techniques used in holistic medicine are pretty normal and super simple. There are the weirder ones though, but nothing involving spells, rat tails and crows feet.
To make things easy I will start with a definition and work from there.
Holistic - entire, total Is the idea that all the properties of a given system (physical, biological, chemical, social, environmental, mental, etc.) cannot be determined or explained by its parts. Instead, the system as a whole determines how the parts behave. If there is an imbalance in the system then disease may result. Things that are Holistic and are simple to do. The straightforward stuff is ADHD diet modification. Eating more of a whole food plant based diet. Adding ADHD vitamin supplements while you build better eating habits doesn’t require much effort. The time involved is minimal; some of the products could be slipped into your regular diet. While you phase out a lot of the junk and move towards a healthy balanced ADHD diet. If you are dealing with your own diet this task will be a challenge. Working with children on better diet is crucial to their proper development but not easy. I do not envy the task. Use candy and treats as a prize for good habits. Not the norm for their daily diet. You are the parent, be firm and teach good eating. Nutritional science is a new and interesting field. its only about 50 years old compared to other areas of science that have hundred or even thousands of years of progress. More and more research shows that certain nutrients are useful for ADHD symptoms. That means ADHD vitamins can help with the challenge of ADHD. Some techniques involve a little more effort and are less mainstream. Like yoga and meditation are more difficult and involve time, and/or physical effort. The strength and mental benefits are great!
Aromatherapy, Naturopathic Therapy, Herbal Therapy and Chinese medicine are pretty easy when you follow directions but you need an open mind. I am in the process of learning more about these things right now.
Chiropractic treatment is believed by some to provide a more balanced body. While acupuncture creates an equilibrium of sorts. I am learning about its benefits to share with you. It usually freaks people out at the first thought. I want to dispel that notion that it is weird. We'l see what happens.
The Why Nots? If it is as simple as changing your diet or trying a new possibly fun activity to control your ADHD symptoms why not try it. So easy. If you read the rest of this website you will see that when it comes to treatment I always recommend many different approaches. Treatments that affect your entire body and self. In other words a Holistic ADHD treatment. It all ties together.
